Common Name:Giant Kangaroo Rat
Type Locality:USA, California, San Luis Obispo Co., Carrizo Plain, Painted Rock, 20 [=25.5] mi (32 km) SE of Simmler.
Distribution:Western edge of Joaquin Valley, adjacent Carrizo and Elkhorn plains and upper Cuyama Valley of WC California (USA).
Status:U.S. ESA Endangered; IUCN – Critically Endangered; and California Dept. of Fish and Game – Endangered. Extirpated over much of its original range.
