Type Locality:"San Pedro Martir Mountains, Lower California (altitude about 7,000 feet)" [Baja California Norte, Mexico, 2134 m].
Distribution:Sierra San Pedro Martir Mtns (Baja California Norte, Mexico).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Formerly included in douglasii; see Lindsay (1981). Arbogast et al. (2001) found that mitochondrial DNA differed only slightly among the three species of Tamiasciurus.
