Type Locality:India, Assam.
Distribution:Assam, NW Burma (west of Chindwin River); E Bangladesh.
Status:CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN – Endangered as T. p. pileatus, T. p. brahma, T. p. durga, and T. p. tenebricus.
Comments:T. pileatus species group. Does not include shortridgei (see Groves, 2001c).
