Common Name:Red Kangaroo
Type Locality:Australia, New South Wales, Blue Mtns.
Distribution:Mainland, mid-latitude Australia.
Status:U.S. ESA – Delisted Taxa (recovered); IUCN – Lower Risk (lc). Very abundant.
Comments:Maintained in a monotypic genus Megaleia by McKenna and Bell (1997), but Dawson and Flannery (1985) showed that it belongs in genus Macropus, subgenus Osphranter.
