Council of Ministers


The Council of Ministers was in charge of the central planning of the economy and of issuing edicts on economic policy. It oversaw the activities of national and republic ministries, e.g. Foreign Ministry, the Ministries of Justice, Culture, Education, plus a large number of economic ministries such as the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Machine Building, Ministry of Aviation, Ministry of Light Vehicles, Ministry of Heavy Vehicles. The chairman was considered the Prime Minister.
