Lecture 22, #2: A satellite is orbiting the Earth at a
height 300 km above the surface of the Earth. How long does it take
to circle the planet? Answer this two ways: (a) Use Kepler's laws
and compare the orbit of the satellite with that of the Moon; and
(b) Use Newton's second law in conjunction with the universal law
of gravitation. n.b.
This is a lengthly problem and the video is split into 2 parts, the
second beginning after Professor Solomon erases the board. |
