CONFERENCE ON OPEN FINANCE

Eighth Biennial Alternative Perspectives on Finance Conference

Hotel Daglezja

Zakopane, POLAND

AUGUST 6-8, 2006

Alternative Perspectives on Finance seeks to bring together scholars from all disciplines who are examining finance and financial markets using different methodologies and qualitative and quantitative methods (behavioral, social, critical, legal, historical, philosophical, etc.)  This yearŐs conference will again provide a rare opportunity for those whose paths might not normally intersect to meet each other and learn about work concerning finance and financial markets that they might not normally encounter in the course of their research.

The conference will allow substantial time in the sessions to debate the issues raised by the papers.  A distinguishing feature is that the discussants, rather than the authors, present the papers with their comments.  This makes the role of the discussants more important than usual, since the author's only task is to make a brief reply and participate in the discussion.  All papers will be available on the APFA web site  in advance in order to promote audience participation. The conference schedule is designed to encourage informal contacts and discussions, and our past conferences have been known for their innovative and entertaining social activities.  The registration fee for the conference will be approximately 450 dollars, which will cover all meals and activities from Sunday evening through Tuesday evening.

If you are interested in contributing, please e-mail your paper to Skip McGoun at the address below.   The submission deadline is April 1, 2006.  If you wish to be a discussant or chairperson without submitting a paper, please write by May 1, 2006. (We will consider persons submitting papers to have also volunteered to be discussants!)  You are of course invited to discuss your work with us earlier, and we will read and comment on preliminary drafts.  Come join us in 2006 in the Tatra Mountains of Southern  Poland and visit our website http://www.departments.bucknell.edu/management/apfa/ for all conference information and papers.
