Why Use Blackboard: Announcements

One very useful feature of Blackboard is the ability to post Announcements to your students that (by default) appear as soon as your students access your course in Blackboard. If you want to remind your students of an upcoming deadline, to say something to them that you forgot to mention in class, or to bring to their attention some co-curricular event that is occurring on campus, you can use the Announcement feature to display your message in a prominent way:

Sample Announcement

By default, Blackboard will show the announcements posted in the last seven days, with the most recent announcement appearing at the top of the page.

Please note that in order for your students to see your announcement, they have to log in to Blackboard. It's very important to stress to your students that they need to log in to Blackboard frequently and navigate to your Blackboard course in order to keep up with important course-related activities.

For instructions on how to post annoucements in Blackboard, see Posting an Announcement in Your Course.
