| Bucknell students Christine Kassab and Steve Smith, along with Professors Craig Kochel and Jeff Trop spent an intense two weeks at the North Carolina Outer Banks gathering data on the overwash deposits of Hattaras and Okracoke Islands. The team used vibracoring, ground-penetrating radar, laser surveying and other sampling techniques to characterize the overwash fans. They intend to correlate these deposits with historic tropical and extratropical storms and will present the results of their research at the 2007 National Meeting of the Geological Society of America Meeting in Denver, Colorado. |
