Important Course Information:

Required Work

Draft and final version for each of two research-analysis essays of 5-7 pages (involving substantial revision of the first version for each)
Eight blogs (each a min. 650 words or equivalent of two double-spaced typed pages normal font)
Participation in class discussion and small-group projects; class presentation

Grading

20 percent class participation (includes active discussion, attendance, evidence of preparation, oral presentation)
20 percent first essay (5 for thesis/draft/revision process)
30 percent second essay (10 for thesis/draft/revision process)
30 percent blogs and tutorials

Fine Print

Each part or sub-component of the grade is scored on a 0 to the maximum range; 0 being unaccpetableor not handed in, to the maximum being outstanding/publishable/work of professional quality. Assignments handed in late will be penalized.
Missing more than four classes without an official written excuse will result in a lowered grade for participation; missing more than six classes without such excuse will result in additional lowering of the semester letter grade. Plagiarism will result in a failing semester grade.

Field Trips

There may be optional field trips for the course.

Tutorials and Conferences

During designated weeks, there will be required 15-minute appointments to discuss blogging or projects, which will be scheduled in regular time slots.
