The content of this seminar includes an analysis of the legal basis
for the public schools, the relationship of the federal and state appelllate
courts to schooling, and various effects of major judicial decisions on
school policies. Major emphasis is given to those leading cases, especially
at the federal level, which have defined the parameters of Constitutionally
protected freedoms in schools. Attention is given to the statutory and constitutional
grounds upon which the cases are decided as well as to the legal arguments
which have been developed to decide the cases .
