Untenured teacher

An untenured teacher is a teacher who has not completed satisfactorily a three-year probationary period and has not been given a contract as a professional employe. An untenured teacher is a temporary professional employe. A substitute teacher who is not a professional employe is also untenured. Untenured teachers in Pennsylvania have statutory due process rights, which are less than those given by statute to tenured employees.
