Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Act 74 of 1969 created the Pennsylvania Department of Education and provided "that the Superintendent of Public Instruction shall be ex officio, the Secretary of Education." All references to the Superintendent of Public Instruction in the Public School Code of 1949 now refer to the Secretary of Education (q.v.).
