Regional charter school

A regional charter school is an independent public school that is established and operated under a charter from more than one local board of school directors. The conditions for the establishment of a regional charter school are stated in 24 PS § 17-1718-A. The regional charter school must be organized as a public, nonprofit corporation. The regional charter school is controlled by a board of trustees. See 24 PS § 17-1716-A. The provisions with which a regional charter school must comply are stated in 24 PS § 17-1715-A. Regional charter schools are subject to only specified statutes and provisions of 22 Pa Code. See 24 PS § 17-1732-A. Regional charter schools were established by the "Charter School Law", Act 22 of 1997 (PL 225).
