In-school suspension
An in-school suspension is exclusion from classes, which may be imposed upon a student in accordance with 22 PA Code § 12.7. Before an in-school suspension becomes effective the student to be suspended must be informed of the reasons for which the suspension is to be given and must be given an opportunity to respond to the charges. The parents or guardian must be informed of the imposition of the suspension. When the suspension exceeds ten consecutive school days, the school must offer the student and the student's parent or guardian an informal hearing with the principal before the eleventh school day. The school district has the responsibility to provide the student with an education during the in-school suspension.
