Compulsory School Age
Compulsory school age is the age span during which the child is compelled to attend school in Pennsylvania, which begins no later than the age of eight years and continues until the age of seventeen or graduation from high school. Actually, compulsory school age begins when the child enters school as a beginner, which is when a child enters a school district's lowest elementary grade above kindergarten. Parents are compelled to send a child who is eight to elementary school and the child is compelled to remain in school until s/he reaches the age of seventeen or graduates from high school. If a child's parents elect to send the child to school before the age of eight, compulsory school age begins before the age of eight and continues until the child attains the age of seventeen or graduates from high school.
