Council of Higher Education

One of two councils on which members of the State Board of Education serve for the purpose of formulating policy proposals applicable to higher education. The council consists of ten members of the State Board of Education as well as the chairman of the Board. The Governor designates a member of the council to serve at his pleasure as chairman of the council. The powers and duties of the Council are described in 24 PS § 26-2604-B(c). The other council, the Council of Basic Education, formulates policy proposals applicable to elementary, secondary and vocational-technical education.
