LEGAL ASPECTS OF EDUCATION
This course focuses on how education in the United States in affected
by various legal forces. Conceptual frameworks from the disciplines of economics,
political science, psychology, and sociology, as well as education, are
utilized to analyze the interaction of law and education in the context
of contemporary American society.
The influences of the executive, judicial and legislative brances of both
state and federal governments are examined. Special consideration is given
to adminstrative law and state and federal administrative agencies and their
effects upon education. Colleges and universities are examined as well as
elementary and secondary schools. Both the public and private sectors are
studied. Major attention is given to federal laws, administrative agency
rules and regulations, executive orders, and judicial decisions at the federal
and Pennsylvania appellate and the U.S. Supreme Court levels and how thse
impact upon all levels and types of education, both public and private.
