By 1965, a new academic quadrangle had been created. The only building visible in this photograph, which had been constructed before 1950, was the Vaugah Literature Building. All of the others had been built during the 1950's or early 1960's. At the far left of the photograph is the rear of the Olin Science Building with its two-story addition, completed in 1959. Next to this addition was a parking lot. At the right of the cars in this parking lot is the Administration Building, which was connected to the Vaughan Literature Building. Bertrand Library, with its tower, is at the back of the quadrangle. To the right of the library is Coleman Hall. Connecting the Administration Building and Coleman Hall is Freas Hall, at the front of the quadrangle. To the right of Coleman Hall is Swartz Hall. Before 1920, all of this land was part of the George Barron Miller Farm. All of these buildings reflect the original master plan for the development of the Bucknell campus, which was created by Jens Frederick Larson in the 1930's. This photograph was taken from the top of Davis Gymnasium. |
