The 1939-40 Bucknell Catalogue listed one hundred and eight active teaching members of the faculty, of whom thirteen taught at Bucknell University Junior College in Wilkes-Barre. The 1944-45 Catalogue listed an active faculty of one hundred and twenty-three, some of whom were on military leave of absence and twenty-one of whom were at the junior college. In addition there were fourteen temporary war-time appointments. By 1946-1947, when the junior college had become independent as Wilkes College, there were one hundred and twenty-eight members of the faculty in Lewisburg, of whom three were temporary.

In 1946-47, during the post-war years, four buildings containing sixteen apartments were constructed for married faculty members. The cost to the University was approximately $180,000,00. The 1947-48 Catalogue listed one hundred and thirty-six active members of the faculty, excluding the extension division. Thus, the number of faculty members on the Bucknell campus had increased by forty-three percent from 1939/40 to1947/48.

Faculty Court was built on part of the 170 acres of land which the University had purchased in1920, which was known as the George Barron Miller Farm. Dana Engineering Building, Memorial Stadium Vaughan Literature Building, and Davis Gymnasium had been erected earlier on this land. Bucknell Village, which was housing for veterans and their families, was constructed at the same time as Faculty Court.

In 1963, thermostat-controlled oil burning units were installed to replace the hand-fired coal furnaces, and the back porches were rebuilt. In 1965, the buildings were still used as faculty housing.
