dwards House
In 1951, the house located at 218-220 South Sixth Street was purchased from David Kunkle and Mrs. Florence Kunkle and remodeled for faculty housing. The house was used as a dormitory for women. In 1953, it was called Kunkle House, but it was named Edwar ds House in 1959 because it was the former home of Merle M. Edwards, Class of 1903, a soccer coach who helped to develop intramural athletics. He was the son of Professor Thomas A. Edwards, Professor of Pedagogy, and Dean of the Department of Women, 1904 -1914.
