he Bison

The Bison Recreation Center was built in 1948, at 416-418 South Seventh Street at the foot of College Hill as a student recreation center with a snack bar. It provided opportunities for indoor recreation and social gatherings for the student body. In the summer of 1965, the Bison was redecorated in the style of a discotheque and the grounds were landscaped.

In the 1960's, the Sweet Shop, located on St. George Street, and "Dunkle's", located on the corner of Market and South Sixth Streets, were also popular meeting places for students, just as "Bechtel's", located in downtown Lewisburg, and "the Burger" ( the Lewisburg Hotel ) had been for students in the 1940's and 1950's.
