Men's Tennis

Courts

This is one of the clay tennis courts for men that were located next to South Seventh Street, which was located between the tennis courts and the brick house that is visible in the background. Nine tennis courts for men had been built during the summer of 1938. The courts were enclosed by high wire fences on all sides, which are visible in this image taken from a 1941 film, "Days in College," that described Bucknell to prospective students.

The original space proposed for the Christy Mathewson Memorial was to the right of the photograph. In 1926, the Trustees authorized the use of the North Athletic Field "…near the corner of Seventh and Walker Street…" for that purpose.
