Campus Model

This model of the future campus was constructed by Jens Larson in 1932 when he became the architect for the university. It was protected by a glass case. Some of the buildings were quite accurate depictions of the buildings that would be built in the 1950's, such as the social science building and the chapel; other buildings like the library when constructed were quite different than depicted in the model. In the early 1950's, based upon Larsen's architectural vision, Bucknell University developed the Second Century Development Plan, which envisioned what the campus would look like in 1960.

Larson's master plan was followed when the campus expansion began with the construction of the Vaughan Literature building through the 1960's. Prior to Larson's master plan, another plan developed by a different architetural firm had envisioned the expansion of the campus in a different way.
