This 1938 photograph, taken shortly after its construction, shows the floor of the gymnasium and the balconies located on both sides. Light is streaming into the gym from the windows which lined the north and south sides of the building. Note also the light coming in through the five doors at the east end of the floor. These doors opened onto stairs, through which the gymnasium was entered from the U-shaped drive connecting the the building to Moore Avenue.

In 1945, the basketball team had a 10-7 record, winning games with Elizabethtown College, Bloomsburg State Teachers College, Villanova (twice), Franklin and Marshall (twice), Olmsted Army Air Field (twice), Indiantown Gap Army, and the University of Scranton. Bucknell was defeated by Marshall, Penn State, Bloomsburg State Teachers College, the University of Scranton, Indiantown Gap Army, and Muhlenberg (twice). The season began December 6, 1944, and ended February 10, 1945.
