ixth Street House

In 1940, the University purchased the house located at 311-313 South Sixth Street from Mrs. Mary Dunkle for $6,500.00 "…. of which $500.00 was to be paid on the delivery of the deed and balance within three months after the death of Mrs. Dunkle, and interest was to be paid at the rate of $25.00 per month to Mrs. Dunkle during her lifetime and she given the privilege of maintaining her residence there as long as she lived." Beginning in 1942, the house was used as a women's dormitory. The building, sometimes called Dunkle House, was razed in the fall of 1964. (Bower House, or Faculty House, is visible to the left; Stevens House is visible to the right)
