Old Main

This photograph taken from the quadrangle side of Old Main shows the ivy, which covered both wings and the central section of the South side of the building. After 1908, new "shower baths" and "toilet facilities" were installed in the both wings of the Main College because the facilities were inadequate. In 1915, a room on the main floor of the East Wing was used for the Course in Mechanical Engineering and the Biological Department occupied some of the space of the former library.

The fountain to the lower left in the photograph was a gift of the Class of 1910 and this photograph appeared in the 1920 L'Agenda. Note the tower atop the dome of the central section
