lectrical Laboratory

The electrical laboratory was located on the ground floor of East College. Windows with drawn shades are located along the back wall, where the portable blackboard is located. A door is located behind the wooden table, over which the large light bulb is suspended. At the left of the table is a window with a drawn shade.

In 1905, the Trustee Committee on Instruction recommended "…. that nine courses (one year's work) in electro-technics be added to the subjects of study, to be given first in the school year 1907-08 and that Walter Kremer Rhodes, A.B., of the class of 1903, be appointed Instructor in the same, his services to begin with the school year 1907-08." In 1907, Rhodes was appointed "Assistant Professor of Mathematics in Electro Technics" and was working in the "…. new and commodious electrical Laboratory." In 1912, the Trustees asked Andrew Carnegie to donate $50,000.00 to endow a "Carnegie Professorship in Electro-Technics", but Carnegie declined.
