1895 View of Lewisburg
This is a view of Lewisburg as seen from the top of Old Main. The open space in the center of the photograph is University Avenue. Slightly to the left of the beginning of University Avenue is the Union County Court House, with its white tower. To the right of the court house building is the Susquehanna River and the bridge connecting Lewisburg to Northumberland County. To the left rear in the photograph are the spires of the Baptist and Methodist Episcopal churches ( the spire of the Presbyterian church is visible to the left of the court house ). The Baptist church is clearly visible in a full-side view ( to the left ). Behind the Baptist church is the large town hall, which had a seating capacity for twelve hundred people.
