Hall interior

In 1895, Bucknell Hall served as a chapel for the students attending the University. The chairs in the room could be arranged in various patterns to meet different needs. Here the chairs are arranged to facilitate chapel services.

Each day religious services were held in Bucknell Hall, which all students were required to attend. Students also were required to attend “public worship” in a church in Lewisburg on Sunday morning, and students were required to attend religious services on Thanksgiving Day as well as religious services held in the forenoon on the Day of Prayer for Colleges “….when a sermon [was] preached by the President, or some one at his request.” On the Day of Prayer for Colleges, which was the last Thursday in January, a prayer meeting was held in Bucknell Hall, attendance at which was not required.
