L
ibrary Rooms

This photograph, taken some time in the 1890's, shows the library rooms, which were located in Old Main. The photo was taken before electricity was used because the light was supplied by gaslights, which are clearly visible, suspended above the reading tables.

In 1896, the Trustees "that heat be put in the rear room of the Library Hall and that this room be so fitted that ladies can use it." They also recommended that Miss Mary E. Brown be appointed "Assistant Librarian at the salary of $300.00 per year and home."
