Common Name:Alpine Chamois
Type Locality:"Habitat in alpibus Helveticis summis inaccessis" (Switzerland).
Distribution:Albania, Alps (of Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland), Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Caucasus Mtns (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia), Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania (Carpathians), Slovakia (Tatra Mtns), Slovenia, Turkey, and Serbia and Montenegro; introduced to New Zealand.
Status:IUCN Critically Endangered as R. r. cartusiana and R. r. tatrica, Vulnerable as R. r. caucasica, Data Deficient as R. r. asiatica, Lower Risk (lc) as R. r. balcanica, R. r. carpatica, R. r. rupicapra.
