Common Name:Common Eland
Type Locality:Known to the Dutch "ad Promontorium B. Spei", restricted to South Africa, Western Cape Prov., near Cape Town by Shortridge (1934:607).
Distribution:Angola, Botswana, Burundi (extinct), S Dem. Rep. Congo, Ethiopia (seasonal in Omo Valley), Kenya, Lesotho (seasonal), Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, SE Sudan, Swaziland (extinct, reintroduced), Tanzania, Uganda, S Zaire, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (cd) as Tragelaphus oryx.
