Common Name:Baird's Tapir
Type Locality:"Isthmus of Panama", restricted to Panama, Canal Zone by Hershkovitz (1954).
Distribution:East from Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Mexico, through all other Central American states to Colombia west of the Rio Cauca and Ecuador west of the Andes to the Gulf of Guayaquil.
Status:CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN – Endangered.
Comments:Revised by Hershkovitz (1954).
