Type Locality:"Provinz New York in Amerika".
Distribution:Canada (S British Columbia to Nova Scotia), Mexico (south to Oaxaca), USA.
Status:CITES – Appendix II; U.S. ESA – Endangered as L. rufus escuinapae. IUCNLeast Concern.
Comments:Reviewed by Lariviere and Walton (1997). Mattern and McLennan (2000) demonstrated that a rufus lynx clade would be paraphyletic. Synonyms allocated according to Hall (1981) and Larivière and Walton (1997).
