Common Name:Nyiro Shrew
Type Locality:Kenya, Mt. Nyiro, south of Lake Rudolf [Lake Turkana].
Distribution:Known only from the type locality.
Status:IUCN – Critically Endangered.
Comments:Regarded as a synonym of hildegardeae by Osgood (1936), but retained as a species by Heim de Balsac and Meester (1977), who noticed similarities to niobe.
