Common Name:White-spined Atlantic Spiny-rat
Type Locality:Brazil, Bahía, Ilha de Madre Deos, Itaparica (near Salvador).
Distribution:States of Sergipe, Bahía and Minas Gerais (NE and SE Brazil).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (nt) as Proechimys albispinus.
Comments:Reviewed by Pessôa and Reis (2002). Karyotype has 2n=60 and FN=116 (Leal-Mesquita et al., 1992). Divergent from other forms of Trinomys (Lara and Patton, 2000).
