Common Name:Napo Spiny-rat
Type Locality:Ecuador, Napo-Pastaza Prov., Río Napo, Isla Llunchi (18 kms below mouth of Rio Coca).
Distribution:N Peru, E Ecuador and SE Colombia east across S Venezuela and adjacent Brazil to the vicinity of Manaus, west of Rio Negro.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc) as P. quadruplicatus and P. amphichoricus.
Comments:Placed in goeldii group by Patton (1987); Patton et al. (2000) included amphichoricus. Karyotype has 2n=26-28 and FN=42-44 (Gardner and Emmons, 1984; Patton et al., 2000).
