Common Name:Spix’s Yellow-toothed Cavy
Type Locality:Brazil, restricted to Minas Gerais, Lagoa Santa by Cabrera (1961:575).
Distribution:Brazil, Bolivia, east of the Andes.
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Includes wellsi (Corbet and Hill, 1991:201); also see Cabrera (1961:575). Huckinghaus (1961:71) considered wellsi a distinct species. Karyotype has 2n=64 and FN=118 (Maia, 1984).
