Common Name:Common Australian Rock Rat
Type Locality:Australia, probably Northern Territory (see Mahoney and Richardson, 1988:191).
Distribution:Northern Australia; always in rocky outcrops in Pilbara region of Western Australia through Kimberleys to N coastal Queensland between Cooktown and Townsville; also on offshore islands (Fleming, 1995a:621; Watts and Aslin, 1981:138).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Patterns of allozymic comparisons between populations discordant with chromosomal differences (Baverstock et al., 1977d). Reviewed by Watts and Aslin (1981) and Fleming (1995a); also see Churchill (1996).
