GENUS Tryphomys

Author:Miller, 1910.
Citation:Proc. U.S. Natl. Mus., 38: 399.
Type Species:Tryphomys adustus Miller, 1910.
Comments:RattusDivision. Musser and Newcomb (1983) and Musser and Heaney (1992) revised the genus and documented the history of its past association with Rattus; identified as a Philippine New Endemic (Musser and Heaney, 1992). Tryphomys and Abditomys, another Luzon endemic, form a monophyletic cluster; their phylogenetic alliances to other genera of Philippine New Endemics, or to genera native to other regions in the Indo-Australian region, remain unresolved.
