Author:Burt, 1932.
Citation:Trans. San Diego Soc. Nat. Hist., 7: 181.
Common Name:Coronados Island Woodrat
Type Locality:México, Baja California Sur, Coronados Isl; 26°06'N, 111°18'W.
Distribution:Known only from the type locality.

Comments:Subgenus Neotoma, lepida species group (sensu Edwards and Bradley, 2002b). Likely conspecific with N. lepida according to Mascarello (1978). Not collected since 1932; judged "extinct for years or even decades" by Smith et al. (1993:152), probably due to a combination of habitat destruction and domestic cat predation (also see Alvarez-Castañeda and Ortega-Rubio, 2003).
