Hall (1981:578) listed californicus as a subspecies of heermanni, without discussion of Patton et al. (1976). Reviewed by Kelt (1988b, Mammalian Species No. 324). Williams et al. (1993) regarded eximius Grinnell and saxatilis Grinnell and Linsdale as valid subspecies. |
