Common Name:Red Bush Squirrel
Type Locality:Mozambique, mainland near Mocambique Isl "Africa orientalis, Quintangonha, 15° Lat. Austr."
Distribution:S Somalia, E Kenya, E Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa).
Status:IUCN – Vulnerable.
Comments:Kingdon (1974b) recognized three subspecies in the northern part of the range, Viljoen (1989) recognized four in the southern part.
