Distribution:SE Coahuila through C Nuevo Leon, south through W Tamaulipas to extreme N San Luis Potosi (Mexico).
Status:IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:Subgenus Sciurus (Hall, 1981:430). Reviewed by Best (1995a, Mammalian Species No. 501).
