Common Name:Hamadryas Baboon
Type Locality:Egypt.
Distribution:Arid zone of Red Sea coast of Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, N Somalia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia.
Status:CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Comments:Includes anubis, cynocephalus, papio, and ursinus according to Szalay and Delson (1979:336), but see Jolly and Brett (1973:85), Dandelot (1974:9), Corbet and Hill (1980:88), Groves (2001c) and others who recognized these as distinct species.
