Type Locality:Paraguay.
Distribution:N Argentina to Mato Grosso (Brazil), Bolivia (see Anderson, 1997).
Status:CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Comments:A. caraya species group. For the inclusion of straminea in this species, not in A. seniculus, see Rylands and Brandon-Jones (1988).
