SPECIES Pseudopotto martini

Author:Schwartz, 1996.
Citation:Anthropol. Pap. Amer. Mus. Nat. Hist., 78: 8.
Common Name:False Potto
Type Locality:"Equatorial Africa".
Distribution:unknown; one specimen is said to be from Cameroon.
Status:CITES – Appendix II.
Comments:A controversial taxon, based on only two specimens, both of uncertain provenance. Groves (1998, 2001c) argued that the coalescence of a number of unique features sets it apart from Perodicticus; but Sarmiento (1998) considered that it falls within the range of Perodicticus. McKenna and Bell (1997) recognized the genus, but did not assign it to either of their two subfamilies (Lorinae, Galagoninae).
