Type Locality:Madagascar, west of Mananjary.
Distribution:Between Mangoro and Mananara Rivers.
Status:CITES – Appendix I; U.S. ESA and IUCN – Endangered as P. diadema edwardsi.
Comments:Recognized as a full species by Groves (2001c).
