Common Name:Pyrenean Chamois
Type Locality:Spain, "Mont. Pyren." (Pyrenees).
Distribution:Appenine Mtns (Italy), Cantabrian Mtns (Spain), and Pyrenees (France and N Spain).
Status:CITES – Appendix I as R. pyrenaica ornata; U.S. ESA – Endangered as R. rupicapra ornata; IUCN – Endangered as R. p. ornata, Lower Risk (lc) as R. pyrenaica.
Comments:Revised by Lovari and Scala (1980) and Scala and Lovari (1984). Regarded as a species distinct from R. rupicapra by Lovari (1985, 1987).
